This is the provisional IRA putting forward their position. This was taken in the late '80 or early '90.I'm a representative of the general headquarter staff of glaigh na h ireann, the IRA. I don't see any merit discussing individuals as targets, sufficive to say that the people who legislate were the terror in Ireland. Know well that they all remain targets. And I'm sure that Mrs. Thatcher when she goes down upon her knees with a mirror checking underneat her car in the morning remembers the terror, she inflicted on Ireland. Our strategy is that through the effective use of guerilla warfare, and through continually maintaining an effective fighting force, we will eventually sap the political will of the British government to remain in Ireland. If the British government were prepared to show even one iota of leadership, and were to begin moves to disengage from this country, then the conflict would cease.

Christy Moore & The Dubliners - Black Velvet Band
"The Black Velvet Band" is a traditional Irish folk song concerning the waves of Irish people who were sent to places like Australia for their crimes. This song is about a tradesman who meets a young woman who has stolen an item and passed it on to him (the lyrics of the song vary from place to place). The man then appears in court the next day, charged with stealing the item and is sent to Australia for doing so. This version by Christy and the Dubliners is from 1987.
